PRP

PRP (Platelet-rich plasma), that is, platelet-rich plasma, is a treatment method that uses the platelets in it by concentrating the plasma obtained from the person's own blood by centrifugation method. Since it is obtained from the person's own blood, the risk of immune reaction is very low, as it will not cause a foreign substance effect on the immune system.

Since it is obtained from the person's own blood, the risk of immune reaction is very low, as it will not cause a foreign substance effect on the immune system. When PRP (Platelet-rich plasma) was first used in the 1990s, it was used as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of chronic non-healing wounds. It has taken its place in treatment after studies showing that it is effective in this area. In the past 10 years, the healing and regeneration properties of PRP have been used not only in wound healing, but also in areas such as plastic surgery, tooth and hair loss treatment.

The platelets in PRP leave some growth factors in them to the area where they are injected. Once activated, they secrete factors such as platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor β (TGF-β), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1). These factors trigger the vascularization and blood supply of that region and cell proliferation. It also provides collagen synthesis and immune cell increase.

In 2016, an article was published in the American Journal of Clinical Dermatology that analyzed and compared studies on the use of PRP in the treatment of hair loss. In the studies reviewed in this article, in patients who received PRP treatment for hair loss; An increase in the number and thickness of hair, an increase in the number of hair per square centimeter, an increase in the vascularity of the follicle and the number of hair follicles were observed. receiving treatment

When the satisfaction of the patients was measured, it was reported that at least 7 out of 10 patients were satisfied and an increase in hair quality and thickness was reported by about 85%. The majority of the patients participating in the study were men. When the duration of the treatment was compared, it was seen that the most effective result was obtained in the 3rd month of the application, while the effect decreased by the 12th month. The most common side effect was short-term pain after injection. No serious or long-term effects were observed.

In conclusion: The results of the studies were found to be satisfactory and promising and there were no safety or side effects problems.
